What to expect

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. You may have questions about how it works, what you'll talk about or whether it will be right for you.

We want you to feel comfortable and informed from the beginning so we offer a free call, face-to-face or online 20-minute session with one of our therapists for you to ask questions and get a feel whether we are the right choice for you.

Your first session

If you decide, to go ahead, your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to talk in more detail about what has brought you to therapy.

We’ll take time to understand what you are struggling with and what you would like to be different in your life.

There is no need to prepare anything beforehand; you might not even have a clear idea of what the problem is. We can take our time and begin wherever feels most comfortable. The most important thing is that you feel safe, listened to and understood.

How many sessions?

Everyone's therapy is different. For some, a small number of sessions is helpful to work through a specific issue. For others, therapy may be more open-ended, providing the time and space to explore longer-standing difficulties in greater depth. We can talk about this at your first session and review together as the work progresses.

How long is a session?

Sessions last 50 minutes for individuals and 60 minutes for couples and usually take place weekly or fortnightly. Having a regular appointment provides a higher likelihood of resolution and faster progress but this will be based on availability and your needs.

How much does it cost?

Sessions are £90 for individuals and £120 for couples.

Trainee therapists undertaking personal therapy as part of their training are offered a discounted fee.
